*Christmas love*

Once my favorite ornament is hung, it is holiday time!

Ahhh...happiness for me lately has been a weekly treat of a hot thermos full of Egg Nog Latte from Braum's. It just makes my day better and feels like getting a hug.
Now that I am a lead Children's Librarian, I have been busy scouting the web for Christmas and Winter ideas for the library. These could be used for teaching as well.

Here's some easy ideas!
This could be a center idea. Just put out construction paper, show them how to fold it into a card, cute a green triangle, and brown rectangle and then they get fine motor skill hand exercises by using a hole punch to make the ornaments.

As seen on Fun Littles, a paper plate can become an easy wreath. I would modify this by using various die cut holiday shapes OR collage shapes like triangles, circles, etc. in various colors.

This one I am for sure going to do! It is just circles made into a candy cane. Smart!

An easy snowman ornament made from white foam circles. If your kids are too small for buttons and wiggly eyes, you can always have them use a marker to add the elements and face.

They used ornaments, lenses for cell phone cameras--all from Dollar Tree and then added vinyl words.

This librarian had crafters use mod podge and Christmas fabric onto the back of clear glass plates. The clear plates were from Dollar Tree. They added a vinyl die cut word like "Believe."

I love this Santa beard craft. So simple but effective. You can get the details HERE.

Red Ted Art has so many great card ideas for kids to make!

And they also show you how to make tea lights into snowmen! Details HERE.

Another craft involving shapes! I saw this on Facebook but am not sure of the creator.

This would be good for a small group to make. Put glitter and water in a bottle to make a snow storm!

And finally, I adore this yarn coiled snowman craft from The Pinterested Parent.

I made a flannel tree so the library kids can put ornaments on and off it.

I dyed my hair back to blue. Love it sooooo much! It always makes me so happy.

Have fun making some messy, crafty, holiday goodies!

I know we, as Americans think about gratitude really only around Thanksgiving. I am guilty of it. There is really nothing stopping us for being grateful year-round. I am trying to teach my son what gratitude is. If you are trying to do the same, you may enjoy these printable gratitude games and activities for your children or those that you teach!

Some of these activities include: a gratitude tree, scavenger hunt and even yoga to teach thankfulness.

Dinosaurs in tutus

Dinosaurs in tutus...because, why not?
I saw this posted on a thrifting group I belong to and my goal
is to make these someday! Too bad I gave away all of Harrison's old dinos. But someday...

We just got back from a small vacay at my happy place. SE Oklahoma. The leaves are just starting to change color but I really want to go back in a month to see the whole effect.
Here is a photo I found online of what the area looks like in Fall:

While we were there yesterday, there were mists just like that on the mountain tops.

I absolutely love this place. And I totally needed a getaway. Here's some more pics I took...

Beautiful abandoned house

Original post office at Honobia
This was smaller than a shed!!

Before I go, here's a picture of me as tinacat. Because when you road trip, you get bored sometimes.

Caught up in my feelings

Lately I have been listening to this song...

I remember my best friend Sarita gave me a Boyz II Men cassette during the end of my Senior year in High School. This was always my favorite song on it. I am leaving the library organization that I have been with almost four years. I have accepted a new job as a Children's Librarian in a small town. It can be bittersweet to leave what you have known and dive into something new. Here's to new (happy) adventures!

My co-workers threw me a surprise get-together. They so get me. They described me as a unicorn! They said how I was the light there. It was very sweet.

I appreciate all the gifts and well-wishes and even the tears (though I would cry in response).

We are going out to celebrate tonight as a team with some drinks.

Wish me luck!

Happy Wednesday

Watching spooky movies with my love. I love it when the air outside has that Fall crispness to it. Our house smells like cinnamon thanks to my cinnamon brooms. This is my favorite time of year and my favorite place to be. Soon we will be making our way to SE Oklahoma where the leaf changes are so amazing and vibrant. I cannot wait!

I collect Hispanic Barbies. I am hoping to get this one from my Santa for Christmas. It is the "Dia de los Muertos" Barbie.
I have some crafts to make this weekend--
dinosaurs in tutus with lipstick

fairy skeletons (one for my mama)
 and this Elf wreath.

I was in my element this past weekend. My husband took me to
see the Hello Kitty Cafe when it was at our local mall. I got so many cute things!!!

Que Sera Sera

Hi mom! My only blog reader!
When I was younger, my mom would sing the Doris Day song "Que Sera Sera" to me when I would worry or have social anxiety. The main phrase is "what will be will be...the future's not ours to see."
I don't know what exactly my future holds but I know LIFE IS GOOD. Good things are happening.
I have been doing much research and writing lately. I have been making an effort to explore my local environment more. I have just been...happier. I still find myself procrastinating when it comes to housework or I feel like my brain has a million tabs open and so many things I just want to do at once, but I am so grateful for happiness and happy things. LIFE IS GOOD!
