Photo of the Day

for Wednesday, April 30
no photo of the day :( I was soooo busy today but it will return tomorrow! :)
I had a day of pampering today. My mom babysat for me and I got my hair dyed, painted my nails, exfoliated, gave myself a facial...things I regretfully put off all the time! I am so relaxed right now! :) Grandmas rock!

My Mother's Daughter

For my mom! I made this for Mother's Day. :) The pic is of her and I at my 2nd birthday party. This layout is going to be one of the gifts I give her. Moms rock!!

Clouds. They look like cotton balls.

Smile! It will make people wonder what you've been up to!

How was your weekend??
On Friday we went to a huge neighborhood garage sale. We limited ourselves to only spending a set amount and I cannot believe how much stuff we got!!!

My favorite find?? The Kenneth Cole shoes with cork soles! Oh, and the giant Barbie doll with tiara. H says she is his "girlfriend."
I love the thrill of a bargain. Faithful readers know I am cheap! LOL :)
Remember the free Little Tikes playground and kitchen we got a few days ago? Here is a pic of the kitchen:
And before I forget, I don't know if you also remember the shelf I purchased at the Rink Gallery antique mall (see previous post from last week), but I hung it up in my scrap room and put my paints on it.
It look awesome, but now I need more paint!!
~If you aren't into scrapbooking just cover your eyes and scroll...~
I have been wanting these new $1 stamps from Michael's Craft Stores.
(pic from internet)
I was so disappointed because every time some scrappy frenzy starts I usually never find the items in my area. So I waited a month and checked again, and today I found them! They have tons!
(my pic)
I bought 5 for now but there are 16 total so I am sure I will go back to get some more. I just love stamps!
~Okay, you can stop scrolling now.~ Photobucket
Mother's Day is almost here. Anyone have any good gift ideas? I am totally braindead this year. The only thing I can think of is flowers.
May Day is coming up! Do you ever make baskets of goodies and hang them on your neighbor's door?? When I taught first grade I had the kids do this and we put them on the doors of each classroom. It was so much fun! On the Skip to My Lou blog, she has a template for a May Day basket.
So I made guacamole to go with our dinner (Chicken Enchilada Casserole). Yes, I made the guac myself--no help from Ben. It was good we ate the whole thing!

So here is my guac recipe for you~
I don't measure anything, I just eyeball it LOL but I will try my best to make it a recipe.
3 fresh medium sized avocados
1/2 onion, dice it up
1 small tomato, dice it up
1/2 jalapeno, diced (I like it a little spicy, but this is optional)
sometimes I add cilantro, just 2 pinchfuls, but tonight I did not.
salt to taste (I don't like a lot so I just do one pinch)
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Some people also add garlic powder, but I don't!
You can always be conservative and add more stuff later.
Now the fun part...mash it all together!!
My family is Mexican so I own one of those pestle looking things with the bowl that looks like it is made from rock (so don't know the name). Sometimes I just use the flat bottom of a glass because that is what my mom uses and it makes it soooo good. Some people use forks, but I would not recommend it personally.

theme-someone I love!

Keely Dog *his name is Keely Dog!* is my constant companion. He sleeps next to me, he gets under my feet when I walk, and he is always sitting in my lap. He truly has puppy love going on. The first year we had him he was so hyper it was scary! We got him from someone who had a brain anuerysm and could no longer care for him. We brought him home right after I had surgery for my leg tumor so I did not really get to bond with him at first because I was on bed rest. Keely Dog has really settled down with age and he is very loving. Oh, and so scruffy! Pet-wise (and we have a lotta pets), he is my bff!

IMO this is just wrong. I try not to judge anyone's parenting skills but this seems excessive to me...

Leah Remini's daughter, Sofia Bella, is nearly 4-years-old and she's still on the bottle. Leah invited The Rachael Ray show into her home to share her struggle in getting her daughter off the bottle.
She said, "My daughter runs the house. The problem I'm having with bottle-feeding is basically that Sofia drinks six or more bottles a night. We're hearing that it's not good for her. In talking to our pediatrician, they almost fell off their chair when we said she's still on the bottle. So I'm thinking maybe it's not right." think? Something tells me her "pediatrician" is Tom Cruise. Don't those Scientologists give you classes on how to take care of your kid and shit? Yeah, those classes probably just teach you how to brainwash your kids properly.
Leah and her husband have become exhausted from changing diapers and bottles at all hours. Leah also doesn't think you should judge her ass. She told the NYDN, "They might have their kid off the bottle, but that kid still may be walking around with a pacifier in their mouth, which according to pediatricians is equally as bad."
Rachael introduced Leah to another pediatrician who is helping her get Sofia Bella off the bottle. A Rachael Ray viewer and mother of three was also brought in to help Leah with her first night of weaning Sofia off the bottle.
Things didn't go so well and Sofia Bella started crying immediately for her bottle. Leah said, "Sofia was crying again for a bottle of milk and then I started crying I think because I felt so bad. It just doesn't feel right for me to have a screaming baby and to say no to a bottle." Leah is still working at getting her daughter off the bottle, but said it's not going to happen overnight.
I'm not a mother or anything, but shouldn't you be off the bottle by the age of 4? I mean, I'm still on the bottle and in diapers, but that's for a totally different issue.
Suri Cruise and Sofia Bella will be getting married with bottles in their mouths.

Strange woman?!?

Can I tell you how happy I am that it is Hedy Lamarr month on TCM?!? I am watching Strange Woman right now. Here is the description " An unscrupulous 19th-century woman will stop at nothing to control the men in her life." My kinda movie!!!
Today Harrison got a free Little Tikes kitchen and playground (similar to his other playground but this one resembles a fort not a castle) today! I love freecycle! These are the biggest items we have ever gotten off there, but we have also given away a printer and scanner, an art table, etc.
I have been a member of some of the Oklahoma groups for about three years now. It is nice to recycle items you no longer want by offering them for free and I love it when I am able to get stuff of our own. It is fun! Anyway, I will post pics soon of his finds.
I have a yucky sore throat today. My allergies have been bugging me big time but every time I take Benadryl it makes me too sleepy! I have to be alert because tomorrow is a huge neighborhood garage sale near us and we adore garage sales. I am a bit addicted to them!
Hey, guess what?? It's finally Friday!!! Have a good weekend!

Theme: Foods I love!
I love chips and salsa so much. That is the #1 food I always pig out on. My husband has caught me eating them in the middle of the night! :)
I think I could drink salsa...on second thought, maybe not!!!

Other stuff:
Nothing else going on here at the ol'homestead. My mom spent the day with me and H today because we won't see her again until Monday! She is working two jobs right now, but one is just temporary to help friends out. I feel like a big baby but I hate sharing my mom with anyone so I wish she would work less. Waah.
We got a flat tire today. Ben got it replaced right away. What is up with all the bad luck and our car??!?
And if you are a scrapbooker, ScrapCity is having a free online crop this weekend! Be there or be square! Win prizes, and have fun!
Here is the linky: ScrapCity
It is the scrappy place I hang out when I can. It can be so hard to find friendly, welcoming message boards and I really feel like they are!

A great playdate!

We went to the zoo today (Tuesday) with my friend Amy. She has six kids (five boys, one girl) and three of the kids were with her. I have not spent time with Amy in forever! It was so nice to spend the day at the zoo. Harrison really took to her little girl Amethyst, and I think the kids enjoyed eating corn dogs together the most. It was so much fun!

Still here.

Ahhh. Me and my cabbage patch doll--Pollyanna!
I hope your weekend was good!
I did some shopping with my mom yesterday at our favorite antique mall/art gallery.
I found a vintage cowboy shirt for H.
I got a heavy duty shabby chic shelf for my scrap room.
and a rockin' red purse.
Some critters...not very antique-y but at 50 cents how can you resist??
The art gallery featured felt creatures and inside out dolls by
We ate some yummo food.
Oh, yes and I had a little wine and ale...have not had a drink in about 5 years.
It was a blast! Oh, and guess what I else I bought there?
A gently used leather couch with a leather chair.
The chair was free with the couch!
And they match a recliner we already have at home! I was so happy because I was ready for a new couch.
I have 2 more pics to share of our broken car window.
The glass is sorta pretty.
We got the window fixed Friday afternoon. :)
Oh, and I have a Barbie from my childhood--Totally Hair Barbie. Her head always falls off so our pets started playing with it like a ball and her hair got tangled so I gave her a bath. The pictures from her bath are sort of funny!
And I want to show you my new albums. They are 3 ring by Provocraft and I am slowly changing all my old postbound scrapbook albums over to these. They are so much easier to manage and I feel like they make it easier for people to look through.
The inside. It is 12x12.
Very classy!
I like that they have tags I can personalize with the album name!
The back side.
Oh, and Kipper says Happy Monday! :)
